A Letter for September 2025: The Season of Re-Entry

Hi love,

Welcome to September.
The month of sharpened pencils, golden edges, and quiet reckoning.
Where the light shifts, the air crisps, and the collective pace seems to quicken— even if your body isn’t ready to match it.

We’re crossing a seasonal threshold.
And even if you’re not “going back to school,”
you’re likely feeling the magnetic pull to get your life together.

But here’s the thing:
So many of us are tired. Tender. Between chapters.
Not quite ready to launch into the next version of ourselves—
and definitely not interested in going backward either.

What’s Coming Up in Therapy Lately…

The most common phrase I’ve heard in session this month?

“I know what I should be doing… I just can’t seem to do it.”

We’re not lazy.
We’re recalibrating.

We’re in that uncomfortable but sacred space between insight and integration
between knowing what’s no longer aligned…
and building the nervous system capacity to live differently.

In session, we’re focusing on:

  • Letting go of hyperstructure and slowly rebuilding soft, nourishing rituals

  • Learning to rest before burnout (not just recover from it)

  • Grieving old identities that no longer fit

  • Reimagining success in a way that feels true — not performative

We’re untangling productivity from worth.
We’re redefining what it means to show up.
We’re learning — over and over — that starting small is still starting.

The Energy of This Month

If August was the exhale,
September is the sacred pause before your next inhale.

This month invites you to resist the pressure to sprint
and instead move at the speed of truth.
Not urgency. Not perfection.
Truth.

You might be feeling:

  • Emotionally foggy or resistant to routine

  • Sensitive to other people’s momentum or expectations

  • Like you want structure—but only if it feels like care, not punishment

  • Tender around time, aging, or what “should’ve happened by now”

If so,
you’re not behind.
You’re not broken.
You’re in the re-entry.

So, what does that look like — to move at the speed of truth instead of urgency?

This month, the soul work might look like:

  • Choosing 1–2 grounding rituals — like walking outside each day, noticing the light change, letting nature pace your nervous system.

  • Letting your body lead before your planner — ask: Is this about proving or nourishing? Especially before meals or decisions.

  • Releasing urgency by tying rituals to something ordinary: a stretch before logging on, a pause before pouring your coffee, one deep breath before bed.

  • Practicing the Gentle No — “not right now” is a form of protection, not avoidance.

Tiny acts like these are how we remind ourselves:
Growth doesn’t need urgency. It needs space.

A Soul Truth to Carry

You don’t need to restart your life.
You need to re-enter it with kindness.

You’re allowed to go slow.
You’re allowed to begin again—differently.
You’re not behind.
You’re returning to yourself.

  • + What version of “getting it together” no longer serves me?

+ Where am I confusing productivity with worth?

+ What does nourishing structure look like to me right now?

+ What might I need to unlearn to move forward gently?

  • Where am I rushing something that needs time?

What would it feel like to let just one step be enough?

Mantra for the Month:
“Starting small is still starting.”

With you in the re-entry,
Abby
